Funny Story Behind the Name of This Website .........

My last name is McCrory. From 2017 to 2022, there was actually a prominent Governor of North Carolina with the same name—yet most people (especially kids) in the South still have a heck of a time pronouncing it. Since I teach Pre-K through 5th grade, I’ve pretty much heard every variation imaginable…but the one I hear the most is:

“Hey, Art Teacher!"

After a while, it became so common—and honestly, so funny—that it inspired the name of this website.
And just like that, artteacher.net was born.

I’ve been teaching art for nine years, and my life has always revolved around the arts. I studied Art Education at Rowan University and later spent 15 years as a college advisor at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Everything shifted when Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs bought the school—turning it into a cash-cow opportunity and ultimately running it into the ground.

Throughout all of this, I never stepped away from creating. I’ve worked as a Graphic Designer on stationery packages, logos, billboards, truck lettering, and CD covers.

I’m also a guitarist and singer who has opened for national acts. These days, music is more of a weekend-warrior passion while I settle into life here in the Carolinas and work toward getting back into the scene.
